GUSD Board of Trustees
As Superintendent of the Guadalupe Union School District, I welcome you to our district’s new website which is currently under development. It is an honor and privilege to serve the students, staff, parents and community of Guadalupe, California.
The City of Guadalupe is located in North Santa Barbara County and is approximately eight miles west of the City of Santa Maria and just five miles from the Guadalupe Dunes and Pacific Ocean. The City has a population of approximately 8,000 residents. Over the years, several famous Hollywood movies have been filmed in Guadalupe (Ten Commandments filmed in 1923, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and The Odd Couple II). The City of Guadalupe is predominantly an agricultural community which prides itself on being a family community providing a peaceful atmosphere for families. The school district educates approximately 1,250 children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.
The school district’s Board of Trustees, as stated in the district’s mission statement, believes in ensuring a safe, positive learning environment for all students and staff. Our district encourages parents to be involved in their child’s school and support the district’s efforts by assisting with homework and promoting excellent attendance at school. Parental guidance and support is a critical element to the success of our students. Working together, parents, staff, and the community, can make Guadalupe a model school district, where “student learning” is our number one priority.
Our district is focused on continual academic achievement for each and every student. Our teaching staff focuses on intentionally planning every lesson, keeping students engaged and increasing the level of rigor in every lesson to assist students in being successful scholars.
In closing, it is my personal goal to be a positive leader, role model, and work hard to ensure our students receive the finest educational experience available. This year will be a successful and rewarding school year!
